Though you have not seen him, you love him. Though you do not now see him, you believe in him and rejoice with joy that is inexpressible and filled with glory, 9 obtaining the outcome of your faith, the salvation of your souls.1 Peter 1:8-9
Joy was the topic of this past Sunday’s message preached by Pastor Mat. In his message, Mat gives us a healthy, biblical definition of joy and happiness. Joy is everlasting, happiness is temporary.
Often we believe that material comfort will bring us joy. However, “Despite having wealth, the world is at its most unhappy point in history.” Material possessions do not fill the God shaped holes in our hearts, only great satisfaction in God can do that! We have joy when we are satisfied in God. The joy that we have is one that will never run out. Our trust, hope, and satisfaction in God are what get us through every trial and tribulation.
This advent season, we take great joy in the coming of our savior, Jesus Christ.
