Who You Are In Christ

2Corithians 5:17 Therefore, if any is in Christ, the old has gone, the new has come! Once we choose to follow Jesus we become a new creation. We are not reformed we are actually brand-new people on the inside.  We have been given the Holy Spirit, are united in Christ and we become who we are in him. We have a new identity. Colossians 2:6-7 So then, just as you received Christ Jesus as Lord, continue to live in him, rooted and built up in him, strengthened in the faith as you were taught, and … [Read more...]

John 6:16-21 When evening came, his disciples went down to the lake, where they got into a boat and set off across the lake for Capernaum. By now it was dark, and Jesus had not joined them. A strong wind was blowing and the waters grew rough. When they had rowed three or three a half miles, they saw Jesus approaching the boat, walking on the water; and they were terrified. But he said to them, “It is I; don’t be afraid. Then they were willing to take him into the boat, and immediately the boat … [Read more...]

Big Needs, Bigger God

Pastor Jody spoke on Sunday concerning the feeding of 5,000 found in John 6:1-15. This is the last miracle recorded in the book of John before the resurrection, and like everything else in the bible, this particular location and circumstance is strategically placed exactly where God intended. We find a large crowd who had previously witnessed physical healings now following Jesus to a remote location.  What drew them there was a performance. What Jesus was about to offer was life. Right away … [Read more...]

John 5:39-41 is a practical description of what believing looks like. Step 1. I am a sinner? Step 2. Jesus is the bridge. Step 3. He will give you abundant life.  If these steps appear to be easy, then why did the religious leaders of that day refuse Him? What was missing? In these verses, Jesus makes it quite simple, and lays it out for them in Vs. 39, “You diligently study the scriptures because you think that by them you possess eternal life. These are the scriptures that testify about me, … [Read more...]

Put Complete Trust in Jesus

John 4:43-54 tells us the story of a nobleman who is in a desperate situation that requires attention immediately. His son was close to dying and as soon as he heard that Jesus was entering his city he rushed to beg him to heal his son. This man had traveled 20 miles to meet Jesus and although his faith was weak he had enough to believe that his son would be healed if only he could get Jesus to come to his home.  Jesus uses this moment to teach him and us a valuable lesson. God is not bound by … [Read more...]

A Message Of Hope

Over and over again God has written his love letter to the world through encounters, relationships and events that are very specific and detailed in the bible. Every move is choreographed to reveal his heart and designed to bring us to a greater measure of faith. This is exactly what was happening in John4: 27-42 where we find the disciples returning from a grocery errand.  Look back at John 4:8 and you will find the disciples had gone into town to buy food. During their absence Jesus begins to … [Read more...]

Come Drink Living Water Pt. 2

John 4:16-27 puts us right in the middle of a private conversation taking place between Jesus and a Samaritan woman.  The location of this interchange, a well from which she draws water from each day, is significant and becomes the metaphor that eventually leads this woman to saving faith. We can observe from the half-truths she is telling Jesus that the dialog is getting a bit uncomfortable; she does her best to change the subject concerning her private life. This very candid conversation has a … [Read more...]

Come Drink Living Water

In John 4:1-15 we read about the Samaritan women, a member of the most hated mixed race among the Jews. This woman was living a life of sin, which caused her own people, whom were outcast, to shun her. She was among people who were despised and she herself was even more despised. The Samaritan woman was well aware of how people thought of her, so she purposely came out at noontime to draw water at the well in order to escape the stares, whispers. and shame inflicted upon her.  Most of the women … [Read more...]

Suffering in the Wilderness

Pastor Mathew spoke this past Sunday on the topic of suffering, not the kind of suffering that we can experience due to a direct correlation of a sin we committed, but a type of suffering that is lead by God to produce a deeper and greater understanding of who He is in our life. We find that Jesus, Moses, John the Baptist, the children of Israel and others were lead into the desert.  The wilderness or desert is a type of paradox: The desert is a place of limited food, water, danger, harsh … [Read more...]

Living Intentionally

What a wonderful service we had on Sunday. Not only did we get to experience and witness 11 people be baptized but 3 other people made a decision for Christ, so grateful to be a part of a growing and loving Church. Pastor Jody preached an encouraging message entitled “Intentionally Living.” In Philippians 3:7-14 we read about Paul, a previous devout Pharisee, who had so much zeal he persecuted and murdered anyone who opposed the Church. He was part of a religious sect that took pride in … [Read more...]
